RP Hooks

Wallflower: While Lialle can approach a stranger in a new place and start a conversation, it's still something she needs to work up the courage to do - and that's on a good day. However, if you're the one to come over and speak to her, she will happily spend time with you.Fashionista: Lialle loves to see the outfits that people wear when they don't need to don armour for adventuring. She isn't the type to give harsh criticism on a look, however: when folk wear what they like, she's happy that they're happy. In addition, she makes her own clothing, and her wardrobe is composed almost entirely of her own work. Lialle has recently begun offering her services for commission work, creating entire ensembles for her clients - many of which include an ancient Thavnairian technique that she is hoping to gradually revive.Advisor: If you ever find yourself with a problem you need to solve, Lialle is a patient ear who can help you. She will always keep discussions confidential unless you wish otherwise. She even advises in the field of romance, and has been praised for her guidance despite having little to no experience in such things herself.Dilettante: Lialle has a wide range of experiences from her adventuring days, including studying the culinary arts to satisfy a sweet tooth and keeping a small home library. She has trained in several combat professions, including Sharlayan somanoutics, the way of the samurai of Kugane, and Thavnairian battle-dancing, but her true calling is that of the red mage.

Personal History

Early Days
Lialle's adventuring career began in Gridania, with little more than a weathered hunting bow and a dream. But despite the woodland city being welcoming to an extent, she never really felt at home under their roof.
In the course of her training, she was tasked with visiting the city-states of Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa, and it was in the latter that she found herself the most comfortable. A city of misfits, pirates, and adventurers alike; she was one more among their number. Lialle found like-minded souls among the Rogues' Guild, and volunteered to join the Maelstrom when the company began to properly campaign against the Garlean Empire. With her keen eye and rogue's cunning, Lialle quickly rose through the ranks of the Maelstrom's scouts, achieving the rank of Scout Captain. She led a small unit on reconnaissance missions across Vylbrand, reporting enemy troop movements and force composition to command outposts. It was on one such mission in northern Thanalan, days prior to Operation Archon, that Lialle's career as a soldier was cut short. Her unit was ambushed by a counter-reconnaissance unit, and a skirmish ensued with the Maelstrom scouts on the back foot. The squad made it out alive, but injured - and with their captain unconscious. She had taken a fireball to the side of her head.Lialle spent weeks in the infirmary while healers did their best to tend her wounds. Burn scars were wiped away, hair encouraged to re-grow... but the one thing they couldn't heal, whether through magicks or medicine, was her sight. The force of the blast had rendered her almost entirely blind; she could not see in clear detail more than a fulm in front of her. This broke her heart: her career was over. She couldn't serve in any way without her sight.Until a fateful day when Admiral Merlwyb herself paid the bedridden Elezen a visit. She had commissioned a set of corrective lenses, assembled by the Goldsmiths of Ul'dah and enchanted by the Arcanists' Guild. Putting on the glasses for the first time changed her life. Lialle could see, and because of that, she could fight - but the Admiral had other plans. She gave Lialle leave to act as an independent freelancer: while the young Captain still served her newfound home, she would do so on her own terms.Lialle saw this as an opportunity to see more of the realm, and explore new means and methods of combat. She sampled the combat styles on offer in each of the four Eorzean nations. After a chance meeting on the outskirts of Ul'dah, she found a fighting style that suited her far more than the Rogues' way had been. That was the day she learned to wield the magicks and bladework of a Red Mage.On Her Crafts & Her Travels
During her travels and training, Lialle often found herself wearing armour that she found to be rather unsightly. And she desired to change that. She petitioned the Weavers' Guild to take her on as an apprentice. Under Redolent Rose's guidance, Lialle quickly learned the weaver's trade - first by managing not to prick herself with a needle, then by preparing more and more complex ensembles at the guildmaster's request.
Naturally, her work led her to collaborate with members of other artisans' guilds, and this led to a wide breadth of knowledge. But Eorzean crafts alone did not satisfy her. Using funds from her early commission work, Lialle bought passage to the Far East.It was here that her world truly opened up.The port city of Kugane captured her heart from the moment she stepped onto the pier. She immediately knew she wanted to stay here as long as she could. To learn all there was to know about Hingan and Doman cultures. Lialle immersed herself in learning everything she could of the Far East, from the languages of Hingashi and Doma to their people's history and methods of weaving.Present Day
Nowadays, Lialle is a semi-retired adventurer working with her free company, as well as running the Escape and forever tinkering with her wardrobe. She keeps her Red Mage training up to date, even if she has less use for it at present than she used to. Through no small amount of collateral, she has purchased a plot of land in Shirogane and established a small business thereon, living in an apartment close by.
During her travels across the realms of our star, Lialle has learned much and more of fashion and the creation thereof. She can combine resources, techniques, and aesthetics from all over into stylish attire.

Out Of Character

Hello, the internet, and you specifically. My online name is Raven, but in OOC discussion I respond to Lialle as well.
I'm a thirty-something New Zealander with autism doing my best to get by in a world that isn't built for me (he/they pronouns).
I spend a good chunk of my time writing, when I'm not in-game or working at my local library. I occasionally stream FFXIV and sometimes other games on my Twitch channel; feel free to follow and hang out or lurk if you see me go live!
If you'd like to connect with me, you can find me on Discord under the name WriterRaven, or on Twitter for however long that hellsite lasts. On Romance: I believe that trust in one another, respecting boundaries, and communicating both in and out of character are all important parts of writing a proper romance. I am not interested in ERP.
